This is my first MP3 player. Never thought I wanted one........but, I love it. The sound quality is great, it's very easy to use and the controls are intuitive. The little screen is amazingly clear and easy to read. I've had it only a few days, but I've transferred about 150 songs to it from my CDs using itunes and "drag and dropping" the songs to the player....very easy.
The included headphones sound good...but, the hard plastic is uncomfortable to my ears. I ordered some Seenheiser CX 300-B ear plug type headphones from Amazon, and they are very comfortable and sound great. they are currently on sale for $19.95.
Haven't tried to use the video function yet, but I have put a few photos on it. This too was very easy.
While I can't really compare it to other players, I'm giving it 5 stars because it's an excellent product at a reasonable price.
Get one........you'll be glad you did. |
Convenient but with a mind of its own

My daughter bought this Mp3 player for me and after 4 months I still love it. I really cannot comment on the battery life since I have never played it more than an hour or 2 at a time. However, I have gone days doing this. I have found 2 excellent programs on download.com for downloading, converting and syncing music and videos onto the player through Windows Media Player.
I love the size of this player since prior to receiving it I was still in the dark ages and using a bulky but great sounding Sony cassette player w/AM and FM radio.
Since this is my first player, I had some difficulty learning how to use it. The instructions are practically non-existent! I was happy when I discovered how to change the videos viewing from box to full screen which makes for a better viewing on such a small screen. It also has an equalizer.
My player does a wonderful job playing music by category, except one: songs. I will start the player at a random song. Once that song is over, my player goes into its own queue of 5 songs then stop. (I have at least 50 songs.) It is always the same 5 songs and I have yet to found the solution to this weird behavior.
Finally, for such a small guy, this player has a nice sound. I misplaced the original earbuds and due to the contradictory reviews, cannot seem to makeup my mind about the purchasing more. For now I am using my Sony Cassette's headphones.

Still could be better

I gave 3 stars to this mp3 player. Unfortunately works only on Windows OS. It's very tricky to make it work under linux using gnomad2.
Sound is good but not excellent, with a better set of headphones it improves sound by 30%.
It has an EQ of 5 bands, but still is not enough if you want good quality.
The screensaver is bad, only shows a weird analog clock with circles that goes on and off, very annoying.
Photos look good at 640x480, videos are a pain in the a$$, only supports mp4 and wmv, unfortunately you need the right codec to convert your videos, 90% of the time you get an error on the mp3 player.
FM tunning is ok, several presets to set.
Battery life is good, around 30 hours.

| I purchased this for my daughter for Christmas. The sound quality is good and setup is easy. However, the battery life is TERRIBLE. After taking the recommended 4 hours to charge the unit, it will only play 4 hours before stopping and giving a message to recharge. This is awful. My Sandisk MP3 player will play for weeks without recharging. Needless to say, I have ordered her a Sandisk MP3 player and will not be purchasing any more Sony products. |
